It is probably over 10 years since I have been to a proper music festival and it seems that things have changed quite a lot in Finland during that time. Way less extremely drunk people, many more options for decent food and much better weather.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I went to the festival with a group of my best friends who I rarely see. We all have small kids so it was a very welcome break to these tired moms.
We are all lucky because we have husbands who don't have any issues to "let" us go and take care of the little ones meanwhile. I didn't hear anyone's husband complain about our trip and none of us got pissed off messages from home.
So we could fully enjoy each others company, the a m a z i n g weather (in Finland +25, full sunshine is very rare) and all of the artists. We saw seven different bands and followed their shows standing in the sea, cold drinks in our hands. The only minus was that I (and I think others as well) got sunburned. At the moment I have sort of a panda face..you can see exactly the area my sunglasses covered.
On the way back we all felt so relaxed, like we had been away for a week and very thankful. Thankful for the family that we all had waiting at home, that we were already missing. It's funny how little time you need for yourself to get the energy back and start missing your loved ones. I learned how important these tiny getaways are, alone and also as a couple. You have to keep the fire burning.
By the way. One guy made it into the newspaper when trying to sneak to the festival area by swimming, dressed up as a duck. I mean seriously, he was diving and had a duck on his head. I think that effort should have been rewarded with a free entrance.
What a festival. Thank you Ruisrock.
