It's been a week since the witnesses that had been in talks with steemit forked off the chain.
They had been trying to find a way out of the mess that was created by the sale of steemit by 
I have removed my votes from all witnesses until I see who's who in the zoo.

So where does that leave all the rest of us that were not privy to all of the facts of what actually happened in those talks?

So what can we make of this?
We have two sides to this story. Let's cut the crap and simplify.
Story 1.
Justin Sun was about to wreck steemit and destroy the platform?
It's still there.
Story 2. The witnesses voted into the top 20 by the community were fighting this hostile takeover.
They have left Steemit without allowing the community their safety net to power down?
Of course there is some truth in both of these stories but the real truth is somewhere in between.
How many people do you know that would buy a business and then wreck it?
How many of the community witnesses were offered and accepted bribes?
Is this even true? Where is the evidence? Who are they?
The community began to split along predictable lines.
Some of my friends are still on steemit and some have gone to hive.
I was asked what website I would be posting on? As if that was important somehow?
I post on several websites apart from these two. Some are my own websites but all of the other websites are centralised. YouTube, Blogger and hubpages etc
Many people that write blogs have had experience of writing on platforms with expectations regarding content.
These are called style guides. e.g.
1000 words
5 high quality photos
No profanity etc
No porn or drug references etc
Steemit claimed to be censorship free. It never was. We all know that many posts got flagged into oblivion.
There was always a lot wrong with steemit but some of us decided that we liked it enough to stay.
Justin Sun is the new owner and a lot of people will be thinking.
Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.
For us mere mortals that want to write and interact online.
We really couldn't care less as long as the lights are on and we are free to write whatever tripe we think on a particular day.
Speaking your mind is a legal right enshrined in law in most developed countries.
We are not all decentralised advocates or that other oxymoron anarcocapitalists!?
We are just real people trying to make a buck by writing blogs, taking photos or filming vlogs to share with the world.
Since we are not fully aware of everything that took place. We are in no position to judge.
The world is facing a much deadlier threat than a few rich people fighting over some code.
