When was the last time you went to the movies?
We went to see the latest Spiderman movie at an IMAX 4D cinema and while the movie was instantly forgettable the eerie emptiness of the cinema had quite an impact on me.

This is the first time we had been to the movies since the lockdowns began two years ago. It was a sobering experience.
The cinema was basically empty except for a few staff and this got me thinking about the economics of this kind of business.
It had all the latest technology for your viewing experience including water jets that hit you in the face, mist appeared from the ceiling, the seats moved like some crazy roller coaster ride and all in all it was a sensory sensation.
It even sprayed scent!
You can turn off the effects system if you're feeling seasick! 馃槀
It could be that public habits have changed and going to the movies is no longer on their list of fun things to do?
And then there's the cost.
Costs: 拢15.99 ($20) per ticket
拢5 ($6:50) popcorn
拢2:95 ($4) water
4 adults and 2 children total cost 拢144 ($195) Ouch!
Maybe the high prices have had an impact on cinema attendance?
With many new movies being premiered on streaming services for 拢20 ($25) and the convenience of watching movies from the comfort of your own home has led people to the same conclusion.
Save time and money and watch movies at home.
It's not the same experience for sure but with such a high price tag I think cinemas are finished?
