I love this tongue in cheek quote. It’s attributed to Abraham Lincoln, but obviously he never said that. If you want me to explain why he never said that, please stop reading now.
But what exactly does it mean? Well, in this day and age of fake news, it’s blatantly telling us not to believe everything we read, especially when a famous dead person has been attributed the quote.
In the age of social media, anybody can spread fake news, so if you read something that sparks your interest, do plenty more research on it. The more research you do, the more levelled your conclusion will be.
So, can we rely on old established media sources like the BBC, CNN or Wall Street Journal? Surely they don't spread fake news?
Hell no!
I'm not saying they only spread fake news, but they tell the news how they want society to perseve it. News is really a major propoganda tool, and society's mind is easy to manipulate, so it's important to do your own due dilligence.
Whenever you watch or read anything, whether it’s an independent blogger, or a major media outlet, always look for the owner of the media company (not the journalist). Then you will discover the truth behind their version of the truth.
