The Active Damping case is designed by Philip Frenzel at Germany's Aalen University uses 8 curved springy foots. The case uses phone's proximity sensor to know whether the phone is in hand or it is falling .When it detects that the phone is falling those 8 curved foots come out and protects the phone from damage.
The case is still in developement phase. A prototype of this case has been made. The maker of this case has also won an award from The German Society of Mechatronics . The maker has also registered for a patient of his design. The design of this case is also improved from the previous airbag cases. Instead of using airbags they have used 8 springy foots. When the proximity sensor senses free fall the foots launch out to absorb the shock and we can fold them back in the case.
