This is a poem written about my daughter a while ago....
She does not speak
but her eyes sing songs that sound so sweet
that auditory inflection cannot capture
the signals she sends...
She bends the very definition of perception
Her scent summons sentiments
That resonate in my chromosomes...
Ring tones that mobile phones
can't replicate
The touch of her skin
sends telegrams that transcend
The bloodstream cell by cell
She gels when I hold her
Forming a molecular bond
that measures strength in generations
This is true cellular communication
It takes place at the most basic stages
pages written in pen can't begin to contend
with the language we speak
It's so much more than cries and coos
We choose to sit in silence
while holding a dialog as endless as time
Neither seconds nor centuries
can contain the memories we share
As we stare into infinity
The three of us...
A truly blessed trinity
