The night was dark , cold. A few stars were already in the sky, as I walked on a lonely path, trying to find my way home. The moonlight illuminated the path ahead. I looked down at my feet, trying to keep them as quiet as possible while moving. My mind was clouded with thoughts and worries.
Many people are afraid of the thing that lurks in the shadows of this town, that seems so far away from the rest of humanity.
And here is me, walking down such an ominous path to reach the safety of home.
I stopped for a minute, looking up at the almost starless skies. If only someone would see the stars. I took out my notebook from one of my many pockets. After reading some of the notes inside it, I put it away again, turning around to continue walking.
A little boy ran past me, giggling like crazy. I smiled, knowing there weren't many kids that could run so fast or get away from their parents that quickly. He had been running around for a while now without stopping. And the more he ran, the faster he got away.
I laughed to myself, shaking my head as I continued on towards my destination.
Suddenly, he started following me, I didn't know what to make of his behavior. I turned around and I said
"hey kid are you lost?", he only replied with a giggle.
I stared at him confused for a moment, before deciding to continue my journey home.
And again, I. noticed the boy still following me. at this point, I was scared up to my throat, as I started sweating profusely. He stopped laughing and started smiling, he seemed happy. I kept my distance from him.
He stopped suddenly and pointed to something behind me.
I turned around, and it was just a tree.
When I turned back to face him, he was gone. my blood went cold with fear , and I started running as fast as I possibly could. I couldn’t help but look back to try and spot him again, I almost tripped over my own feet. I heard footsteps behind me, I looked around, trying to find where they were coming from. I thought about going to the nearest convenience store. And I immediately did just that.
As I got into the store, I noticed something was odd about the store. The store was open but there was no one in it. I looked around to see what I could, hoping that someone would be there to help. I walked around from section to section, but still no one was present. Chills ran down my spin, what exactly is going on today? , I asked myself.
As I turned back to exit the store, I noticed something I didn't see before. I saw trails of blood that lead to a room with closed doors. how did I miss this?, I asked myself again.
I should have just walked away, I should have resisted the urge, but my curiosity overpowered me, I wanted to know, I needed to know, I had to know.
So I went to the door, it was unlocked, so I opened it slowly, not wanting to alert anyone inside. The door swung open, revealing a large room. Blood stained the floor, and several people littered the place in various stages of unconsciousness. One man lay completely still with his eyes wide open; another was barely breathing. There was also a small group of people in a corner of the room who laid curled up against each other tightly in death.
I couldn't see the person who killed everyone, which meant it must have been close by. I felt myself get smaller, and more afraid of everything all at once. I took a step backwards towards the doorway, when I noticed there was one person left alive. Her arms were wrapped around her knees and she sat in a fetal position with her back facing the door, her body trembling uncontrollably. I made my way towards her slowly, not daring to break the silence. The girl's eyes snapped up and met mine.
They locked in place for a brief second before they widened even further. The girl screamed and scrambled backwards, getting as far away from me as possible. Her screams echoed throughout the whole building, echoing through the hallways until they eventually faded into nothingness.
"You don't belong in here", she mumbled to herself before covering her ears with her hands and curling back up in a ball.
"RUN, RUN!!,RUN!!!", she screamed at me
and just then a dark figure, jumped down from the roof, and with a speed of lightning it snapped her neck.
I was horrified a the sight of this, my body trembled , my brain switched into overdrive, computing what I just saw, and calculating a way out.
the dark figure made straight for me, slowly approaching me with it's bloody smile growing bigger and wider every second. I could hear myself screaming, but I wasn't sure if I actually was. As the figure approached me I backed up into a nearby wall, my legs shaking with every step, and tears forming in my eyes. But despite the fear I felt deep inside me, I stood tall, determined to show no fear.
This was it, I'm gonna die in a room full of murder.
"Get away from me", I screamed, my voice hoarse and cracked. But as I said it, I knew that it was already too late. Even as I shouted it ran straight at me .
The last thing I remember was seeing the face of the boy, the boy who giggled.
And when I woke up I was pale in the skin. I had an insatiable hunger. I looked around but no one was in sight. Not even the dead bodies, I stood up and made my way to the door.
Making my way to the snack section in the store, I tried to eat some of the snacks, but they tasted like nothing.
I cried as my stomach ached in pain, when I heard footsteps. I looked up to see who it was.
It was the boy, the boy who giggled. But something was different about him. it was his smile, his expression seemed different. His eyes seemed duller, almost lifeless.
"welcome home, brother", he said, with a smile that revealed his fangs while holding a bag of blood in his hand.
He giggled*

"¡¡¡Corre, corre!!!", me gritó
