Oh boy, does this ever resonate. When quantity of output is emphasized above quality of output, even human writers are going to get sloppy. I go through varying degrees of creative spurts that should be obvious to anyone who pages through my back catalog here: I might write three things in one month and then go silent for three months in a row or longer. Sure, I could force myself to write more, but if I'm not feeling it, then my readers are going to notice.

It's why it took me months to write and edit the blog on video game preservation: I knew what I wanted to say, just not exactly how to say it. The end result isn't perfect, but I'm much happier with it today than I would have been if I'd just pressed 'Post' after my slap-dash first draft.
