It is said that children are God's inheritance, and that blessed is the man who has a quiver full of them. You see this saying is one that I hold so much, I appreciate God for being able to bear children, since I have two of my own it's enough for me to say thanks to God.
When I was growing up there was a woman who got married to her husband and she was expecting to get pregnant but she didn't and till I grew up and even had two of my kids she has not fallen pregnant for one day. I know that one time I heard her discussing with my mother about the issue, then I was still young but I could make out what they were saying. She said that she and her husband have been to hospitals and they said she only has a fibriod and she has been doing a lot to treat herself.
She said that she was even scared about her husband and that he might look for another woman who could bear him children, but my mother told her not to worry about it because soon God will answer her prayer.
That was long ago and my family have moved from that area, maybe she too has moved, I don't know, but yesterday a childhood friend of mine that we lived in the same area and we knew that woman called me to tell me she went to visit her parents and that she saw the woman on her way to her parent's house, heavily pregnant, wow, I shouted because this woman was almost up to 50 years old, indeed there was nothing God could not do, he has shut up the mouth of the woman back bitters and he has given her her her joy, no one could ever call her barren again.
When my friend ended the call, I called my parents and I told them the news. My parents were very happy about the news. My mother said she usually prayed for her sometimes when she remembered.
My mother was so overjoyed that she started praying again for her safe delivery. She prayed that the evil eye would not see her and that she would carry her baby to term without any complications.
And I got thinking, that truly there is a God that answers prayers, one lesson I want to bring out from this woman's story, even though she was without a child for a long period of time after marriage she never left her husband's house because of it, and even when the husband people troubled get, she still stood her ground and still held her faith that she would conceive her child.
Many people mocked her but she never relented, she was shamed, she was abused, but she never lost hope. And now she has her baby on the way in her old age when science has proved it wouldn't be possible.
I know of a time when some people came with a fair handsome boy and told her the child was her husband's child, this was the doing of the family people so she didn't lose her found, and she also trusted her husband that he wouldn't do such a thing, this happened when the husband wasn't around because he works on the sea and wasn't always available at home, but sheet it bother her.
She is the definition of a strong woman with plenty of faith. She has faced many obstacles in her life, but she has always stayed positive and persevered. She is an example of resilience and courage, and an inspiration to all.
