You know how French people and Spanish people are both European, that’s kinda like how Mexican people and Canadian people and those of us from the U.S. who chose to just claim ownership over the entire continent in our self identification are all Americans.

America is not a good short hand for « the United States of America » because it is the most vague part of the name. imagine if people from South Africa just shortened it and said they were from Africa, implying that everyone from all of the other countries in Africa are not Africans. That’s what we do!
It is absurd and embarrassing and it really needs to end.
