I am furious. I haven't been able to post on Hive for days; I only manage the occasional short comment, pop in to support my favorite users, and leave quickly. Most of the time, I use my mobile data. But using my data isn't what makes me angry; what angers me is the fact that I pay $30 a month for private Wi-Fi. That might seem like a small amount to many, but for an underpaid teacher in a country with the highest inflation in the world, $30 is basically half of the bonus the government gives me—because we public employees don't have a salary; we get a monthly bonus just to scrape by and eat for the month.

For years, we have been living through hyperinflation with catastrophic consequences for the vast majority of citizens. A currency that loses value every single day.

Devalued banknotes

Having to pay $30 a month for internet is tough—a huge sacrifice—but I do it for my children's education, for the research required for my job, and to stay in touch with my family and kids.

But you know what? I make that huge sacrifice to pay for it, only to find that most of the time we don't have electricity. There are power outages lasting anywhere from 8 to 12 hours. It is an unsustainable situation that makes one's blood boil. How long can this go on? Dark Night

When there is no electricity, there is no Wi-Fi, no water, and no food in our fridge because it spoils. The children can't do their homework because power outages often happen in the evening when the sun has already gone down; outages also occur in the early hours of the morning, or the power is cut off very late. We can't sleep, we can't rest, and I can't create my posts on Hive or interact the way I used to. I am tired of this—frustrated and depressed.

Often, I feel like I lack the strength to fight or to keep going, but I take a deep breath, calm myself, and tell myself: "I can do this; we have to be able to do this." We have been through so much, but we also grow weary of all this chaos and corruption; I am tired of just surviving.

I want to stop worrying about day-to-day survival.
I want peace; I want to live well.

I want to live in a normal country.

Quiero paz, quiero vivir bien.

Quiero vivir en un país normal.
