Poem:
a 23 minute long
boat ride to a sandbar
remains
A shack made
of carved up planks
On stilts.
a requiem for lovers past
leisures cast
away by the tide
stranded,
forgotten,
remembered fondly
a pelican bar.
Between its many wooden legs
I wait in
shaded water to my waist
Alone
for a fraction
of the sunset
I imagine
you
tan and slippery, lifting me up
to wrap my legs
around your waist
Kissing me deeply
In shallow water
until it almost feels good
how the barnacles scrape my back.
Ouch.
