Alberta has been host to many amazing paleontological discoveries over the years. Fossils from the time of the dinosaurs and many millions of years ago have been discovered quite frequently here. It is not an area you can spot easily from the highway, surrounded by prairies, you turn off about 20–30 minutes before the town of Drumheller. The landscape opens up into these amazing canyons, like a snapshot from another era.

This area has been the site of many fossil finds, and some of them can be seen at the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller. There are some pathways that take you right into the canyon. It was raining when I got there, so I skipped the paths, knowing that it would give me another reason to come back in the future to explore more.
