I took some close-up shots of my own eye, which I was happy with, but then I decided to see if I could get even more creative with it. I wanted to do a mix of color with black and white. It is a look that has always fascinated me since the time I started photography and was working in a camera shop. We sold some point-and-shoot cameras from Canon that had a feature called color accent. It was a neat effect, but as it came from a point and shoot, there was really the clarity I was looking for. A few years later, when I graduated to a DSLR and was able to work with Photoshop, I was able to create this effect in postprocessing, and then it was even a few more years before I tried these edits. The color is a bit exaggerated, as I wanted to create a fire-in-the-eye type of look. The first two images are my attempts at this, and the third is the original image.
