A month ago, I applied for a Job in a government organization and when I reached for the interview-cum-test they asked me to bring an original transcript containing grades from my university. I had the photocopy but they did not count that as a transcript.

I left for my university in the scorching heat and reached around 3 PM. I went straight to the secrecy where they issue transcripts but the peon did not let me go in. The peon said that the department is closing at 4 PM and they cannot issue any sort of document in the hour remaining. I was extremely disappointed because I traveled in that scorching heat and it was very hard to come back tomorrow but I had nothing in my hand. I started walking back towards the University gate when another student held my hand. I looked towards him at first with anger that why did he hold my hand but then became calm when he told me the remedy of how to get my transcript today. I was surprised that the peon was making it sure that transcripts are issued to other guys because they paid bribery of 100 Rupees. I at first refused to pay the bribe but then I thought I would have to come again in this hot weather and have to pay more than 1000 Rupees to reach here. I followed other guys and paid the bribe. I was offered cold water by the peon, was allowed to take a rest and the transcript was issued in not more than 15 minutes. I was like "wow what a quick service".

I then started waiting on the counter for the guy who guided me to thank him. I heard the same peon who was taking a bribe from kids, complaining about the corrupt practices of our leaders. I was like why should you be complaining about others when you are corrupt yourself to the feet. We can only bring change if we change ourselves because Charity begins at home.
