Gisela is terrified, she runs around the house looking for Isabela, her mother, she can't find her, so she starts asking the neighbors but no one has seen her.
She begins to run desperately from one side to the other, she looks into the distance but nothing, she stops people to ask her if she has seen a disoriented lady walking and dressed in a white flannel, no stranger has seen her mother.
She looks up at the sky, she begs God to help her, tears of despair start running down her cheeks, she doesn't know what to do anymore...
Suddenly it occurs to him to go to the nearby square, he ran with all the strength that his legs gave him, he keeps stopping to ask passers-by, finally someone gives him hope, if he saw her near the square, at the bus stop of buses.
When she was close to her, she saw her mother boarding the bus, Gisela was still far away to arrive on time, and seeing that the vehicle was coming in her direction, she crossed the street to prevent the passage of she.
The driver honked his horn several times, but she remained motionless, and he had no choice but to stop. He yelled at her: * _You're crazy woman!, but she replied: * _Sir, please let me look for my mom, she suffers from Alzheimer's, and I saw her get on the bus.
The bus driver agreed immediately, and Gisela looked for Isabela, she did not see her, all the passengers were puzzled, wondering what was happening...
At last he saw her, Isabela was at the end of the bus, she treated her like a close friend, and invited her to her house, Gisela took her with her arms around her so that Isabela would feel calm.
Gisela is the youngest, her two brothers have already made their lives, they both got married, and when the situation in the country became difficult, they emigrated like so many other families, so she was left in the care of her mother.
When Isabela began to show signs of cognitive deterioration, Gisela and her brothers decided that it was best not to leave her alone, initially they hired a person to take care of her, but after Gisela lost her job, the company she worked for closed due to the crisis prevailing economy in the country, so she decided to take care of her mother, and has done so for several years.
Her brothers support them both financially, but Gisela has no moral support, and she is exhausted. She fell asleep that afternoon while she was watching television, Isabela took advantage of going out and almost got lost...
What I can do? Gisela wondered to herself. She had a hard time falling asleep that night, she tossed and turned in bed until exhaustion overcame her.
The next day, a neighbor knocked on her door, Mrs. Mary, who knew Gisela's situation, went to tell her about an Adult Nursery, where she could take Isabela for a few hours, similar to a Children's Nursery.
Gisela attended to Mrs. Mary with kindness, but in her mind she questioned the interest of the neighbor, she thought: _What has this lady believed? Why does she get involved in matters that are none of her business?.
Long after Mrs. Mary had left, she kept questioning his proposal, but the more she thought about it the more she began to like the idea, she thought about the things she could do, go out quietly to do the house shopping, be able to have a coffee with her friends, being able to take a nap...
Until a terrible feeling of guilt invaded her, which dissipated when she thought that she didn't have to take Isabela every day, nor did it have to be for the whole day, she would only leave Isabela for a few hours, and at that moment Gisela smiled.
The following week Gisela took her mother to the Nursery, she only left her for two hours while she went to the market, she did everything in anguish, and she came with some desperation to look for her, but she found her calm and smiling, talking with friends, she thought that too it was good for Isabela.
So, Gisela decided that she would take Isabela to the adult daycare once a week, just for a few hours, that would allow her to have some time for herself. And so she did, for several weeks. Everything was going well.
But Alzheimer's was already deteriorating Isabela much more, so much so that she could not control her walk, nor her impulses to go to the bathroom, so Gisela could not take her to other caregivers. But the time that Gisela had dedicated to herself allowed her to take a new step with her mother's illness, and although she knew that it would be difficult not to have time for herself again, she felt renewed and strong.
And so several weeks passed, until one morning her mother did not wake up. Gisela hugged her for the last time, she felt her warm body, Isabela seemed asleep, Gisela cried until she couldn't take it anymore, then she got up and began with the paperwork for Isabela's last goodbye.
Many of Gisela's and Isabela's friends attended the funeral home, including some they had met in the adult nursery, this was a gesture that touched Gisela's heart, her brothers and their respective families also came.
After the last goodbye, Gisela was accompanied for several days with some relatives. The day she was left alone, she did not cry, but she wondered: What will I do now?
A few days later, Gisela received a call, she was amazed to know that it was from the nursery where she left Isabela, they offered her a job as a caregiver, she did not hesitate to say yes.
The years that she cared for her mother prepared Gisela for this worthy job. And she paradoxically found her love in that place, a cardiologist who provided her services there and who had been widowed for many years. She and Dr. Joseph she had already made friends when they had sometimes coincided in the nursery.
Life smiled for Gisela, she now had to live new and beautiful experiences, and she could only feel grateful.
