Café Albert
Do you have a café that holds a special place in your heart? I have several cafes in Stockholm that hold fond memories for me.
I moved to Stockholm a few years ago, and did fika in many cafes. This culture is well known in Sweden, and I love it so much. And I have developed many of my own favorite and memorable cafes in the city.
One of my most memorable cafes is Café Albert in Stockholm. ( https://cafe-albert.business.site/ )
The sweets in this café are very good, and the variety of these sweets changes a little each time I come, so I never feel bored no matter how many times I visit.
The second floor of the café is especially relaxing, and if you're looking for a few hours of relaxing fika with friends, this is the place to be! I often came to this cafe with my friends to listen to my complaints.
Friendship with friends who are in the same situation is very important when living abroad, and I am very grateful to my friends for listening to my complaints. I feel much better after I complained about lots of things I got disapointed or got hurt due to cultural difference. These are some feelings which only "foreigners" who live in abroad can share, and locals would not be able to understand how we feel. After we talked them out, I felt so much better because I realized that I was not the only one who felt this way! And, I was like, "Okay! Let's get going again! I can survive in this country because I am not the only one lol!" Whenever I felt like I was going to be crushed by the stress of studying language or job hunting, I ate sweets from this cafe and chatted a lot with friends while having a fika, which helped me get through various hard times.
Even now, my Swedish is still not very good and I cannot communicate very well, but I am getting used to life in Sweden little by little, and the frustration from the culture shock in me seems to be gradually dissipating. This is thanks to this café and the conversations with my friends I had, and also support from my friends, of course. And, I do appreciate my sambo for support, of course. If you are ever in Stockholm, please come and visit this cafe. It is sure to be a café that will leave you with wonderful memories.
