So I've not been very consistent with my ULOG posts. I'm really sorry about that though, would try to keep up. Woke up this morning feeling this way and I thought to share this with you guys...
It's another Monday in a new week when you've to wake up, prepare for work, drop off the kids at school ,head to the office, sign off some documents, attend to customers, do some drilling at the site and so many other activities.
Well I'm quite sure at the beginning of the year a lot of us wrote down goals we wanted to achieve before or by the end of the year.
You didn't write down your goals?
Well it's not too late to still jot them down and try to catch up. It's the 20th day in the 5th month of 2018.
Don't feel dejected because we have gone so far already... It's not too late to lay them down and stay determined and focused to see to it that at least 60% of it is accomplished.
Alright back to the subject of the day... It's 10 days before we cross over into the 6th month of the year and that's half of the year already.
Within these last months and in all your activities so far, have you pondered on the activities you've been engrossed in and see if they are in line with the goals you set aside for this year.
Yes or No?
Well, if you've not well it's understandable. There are days we are blinded and carried away by certain activities that we forget to carry out our daily routines well I'm a victim of that.
Those goals were not written down to occupy a page in a book or where ever you might have jotted them down. A vision was embedded with these goals. Do you still want to fulfill them?
Then let's take a look at our daily activities and see how we can fix this.
First of all , take out time, few hours to create an action plan to attain those goals. Break your goals into smaller bits until you've gotten a clear plan filled with the steps you must carry out daily to achieve them. What do you have to do everyday? Or establish? Read? Earn? What kind of function do you have to attend to meet the kinds of people that would mentor you or partner with you?.
Hold on , quickly let's review something...
You can only do the aforementioned above after ensuring that the goals listed are aligned with your core values. Have you understood why you want to reach it? Why is it important? Have you asked yourself why you want to achieve them and how you are going to reach them?
If you've analyzed and done these, then you're on the right track.
Prioritize the goals you want to achieve.
Aside the daily processes we have to engage, alongside with these processes are habits we have to thrive for they are very powerful tools.
Well I'm quite sure you've heard about SMART which stands for goals that are:
S-Specific
M- Measurable
A- Achievable
R- Realistic and
T-TImely.
Well this is very helpful, connect each of the factors to your goals. What's your time frame to reaching them? (Well this should be looked into closely if you have just wrote down your goals). Are the goals realistic? Is the time right? Should you be doing this at the time? How do you intend to measure your progress and how specific can you get with what you need to hit these goals?
Now schedule your calendar to reflect your goals. Dedicate some time preferably in the morning hours to go through and make plans to work on the steps you've highlighted down initially.
