And, as with everything in my life, I have an update while writing this. A HUGE update: We're BOOKED!!!
We're leaving Ireland on the 18th, early in the morning and we'll be flying to Cancun via Frankfurt Germany.
Mexico here we come!!!
We're almost there!!!
Well, not exactly there there... we're not on the plane just yet. But after all the planning, and working, and cleaning house...it's finally coming together now.
There's still loads to do but a good friend of mine said something to me, and that really got my butt into gear.
She said: "I know you have lots to do, and want to get it all done, but in the end, all that's important is that you and the kids get on that plane." She was absolutely right.
I started to try a little less to get 'everything done', because if I really think about it, it's never going to be completely done. We add mess to the mess, so I am slowly coming to terms with leaving a little of that mess behind. No trash of course, but just some things I can't do anymore. Like the sales of some of the furniture. I will give the new tenants (my friends' daughter + boyfriend) whatever they want to have, and what's left, they can sell. He's already going to sell my car for me, so we might as well do it this way. I give them a cut, and whatever I get, it'll be OK.
So I gave the kids the task to go through all of their clothes, get rid of what they didn't want to keep. Then make a small stack of 3-4 shirts, a hoodie or two, some socks and underwear, and 2-3 pairs of pants.
Pack the rest. That way, I might have to wash more often, but I won't be washing and packing like a maniac in the last few days.
My friend has come to help me these past few days because most of the days I'm working, so I really don't get much done. Last week the two of us went through all of the stuff in the shed, and she drove all our garbage to the dump for me, and to charity what was still useful. Then she helped two of my kids to pack what they wanted to keep, and dropped two bags to charity. Their wardrobes are nearly empty!
I'm so grateful she's decided to help, because she's much more organized than I am. If it was just me, I would have stood in the shed for an hour, just staring at things and contemplating on where to start. She doesn't do this. She just starts. I needed that. Once I get going I'm fine but I really need that figurative kick in the butt.
Right now I am talking to airlines and shipping companies about transport for the animals...I AM NEVER GETTING A BIG DOG AGAIN!!!! I love them. But they're so damn hard to transport anywhere! It'll all be OK once we get there but right now it all sucks...
My new gadgets
Momma spoiled herself. But it's more of an investment in myself, rather than a freebie. I invested in an action camera, and a drone. Yup. I did. I am now the proud owner of a GoPro Hero 10, and a DJI Air 2S drone. I figured, I might as well try to monetize my work a bit more by getting footage not everyone has or can do. So yeah, I wanted to write a product review today but I really don't have the energy. It's on the books though. That doesn't mean I didn't play with my toys yet though...馃槃 To be continued...
Pretty damn cool huh?
Me time
I haven't taken a day off work since I started in June, (well, 2 days a week) and it's getting to me.
So when I found this Thai massage place here in town, I decided to spoil myself some more. So before heading for Mexico, I will get pampered Thai style once more.
I think I deserve that. And it will lower the chance of me having a nervous breakdown before our trip! God I miss Thailand!
Can't wait to get to Mexico though! I'm ready! Well, not quite ready just yet but we'll have to be soon haha.
With that being said, I'm not sure if my next post will be from cold ole Ireland, or warm, and sunny Mexico. Let's see how things go. But either way: I will see you all soon!
(Hopefully this year around Hive fest will be better for me with my faster internet connection).
