Today, let us talk about Kairos and Chronos moments.
Kairos represents a season of abundant possibilities, while Chronos is a season of learning, development, and preparation.
Whether we agree or not, we all experience both moments. What sets people apart is not the season they are in, but what they choose to do during that season.
Today, while surfing the internet, I came across a post about motivation and discipline.
Although these two concepts often work together, one is more dependable than the other.
Motivation is powerful, but it is often driven by emotion. We don’t always feel inspired, excited, or challenged. Life doesn’t revolve around our feelings, and our circumstances won’t always encourage us to act.
One of the greatest mistakes a person can make is relying solely on how they feel to decide whether to move forward.
You may disagree, but consider this.
Imagine spending an entire day doing nothing. Then, you see an old friend achieving something you’ve always wanted to do. Suddenly, you’re motivated to start.
That feeling is real, but it isn’t discipline. It is an emotional response.
Discipline, on the other hand, goes beyond how you feel. It keeps you moving even when the excitement is gone.
Now, remember that we are talking about Kairos and Chronos moments.
During the season that feels like a drought when progress seems slow, and opportunities appear distant, what you need is not just motivation. What you need is discipline.
Because when motivation fades, discipline continues.
Am I underrating motivation?
No.
I am simply highlighting the role both concepts play so that we can respond wisely in every season, especially during our seasons of preparation before our seasons of abundance.
Motivation may get you started, but discipline keeps you going until purpose is fulfilled.
What do you think you’re doing wrong today that, with more discipline, you could be doing better?
