Splinterlands is a highly popular and fiercely competitive strategy-based card game in the current blockchain gaming landscape. Within the game, alongside standard ranked matches, 'Guild Brawls' offer players some of the most thrilling experiences. In these brawls, every match is crucial—not just for individual victory, but for the honor of the entire guild and the acquisition of valuable rewards like Merits and SPS. Recently, a memorable and intense battle took place in a Splinterlands Guild Brawl between Mirjaiki—a skilled warrior from the 'YGG Brawlers Nidavellir' guild—and Kira1995, one of the top players from the 'Electrofox Voltage Pack' guild. This duel served as an excellent showcase of meticulous planning, precise monster selection, and the effective use of a powerful Summoner.
The match featured a mana cap of 99. In Splinterlands, a 99-mana limit provides a golden opportunity for players to deploy the most formidable and powerful cards from their collections. To capitalize on this high mana cap, Kira1995 chose 'Yodin Zaku'—one of the most devastating and fearsome Summoners within the Fire Splinter. The presence of this Level 2 Legendary Summoner is a source of dread for any opponent; Yodin Zaku grants every monster on the team an additional point of health, a boost to the ranged attack of all ranged units, and—most lethally—the 'Blast' ability. With 'Blast,' an attack on a primary target also inflicts significant damage on adjacent enemy monsters. Leveraging this strategy, Kira1995 placed 'Grum Flameblade'—a unit with immense health and superhuman capabilities—in the first position. His 'Bloodlust' ability has the potential to shift the momentum of a match at any given moment. Behind this, he assembled a powerful offensive squad, designed to shatter the opponent's frontline and obliterate their entire team in an instant using the 'Blast' ability.
Conversely, Mirjaiki prepared a completely different and highly intelligent counter-strategy. He selected Nidhogg—a Dragon-type summoner—who is both versatile and tactical; before the battle even begins, Nidhogg reduces the armor and health of every enemy monster by one point. Furthermore, he possesses a special ability that grants significant advantages to three monsters on his own team—such as 'Blast' and 'Deathblow,' or increased speed and the 'Execute' ability. Through these, Mirjaiki was able to elevate his team's strength to match, or even surpass, that of his opponent. Nidhogg’s initial reduction of enemy health and armor dealt an immediate, severe blow to Kira1995’s high-damage, low-armor attackers.
For his frontline—his primary defensive tank—Mirjaiki chose a monster with an incredible 20 health and 3 armor. It also possessed the 'Shield' ability, which effectively halved the damage from the opponent's physical attacks. A monster with such immense health served as the perfect shield against the devastating 'Blast' damage from Yodin Zaku’s forces. Behind this main tank, he positioned a collection of formidable and agile mages and warriors from the Dragon and Death splinters—including high-impact cards like Chaos Dragon and Kulthuro. The magic attacks from Mirjaiki’s backline units strike directly at the enemy's health, bypassing the need to penetrate any armor at all.
As the battle commenced, the atmosphere on the field grew intensely heated. The impact of Nidhogg’s presence became clearly evident from the very first round. Gram Flameblade, a formidable front-line warrior for Kira1995, entered the fray in a weakened state, having already lost one point of health and one point of armor. Kira1995’s attackers launched a series of blast assaults, attempting to breach Mirjaiki’s front line; however, these devastating explosions failed to inflict any significant damage against the 20 health and shield capacity of Mirjaiki’s primary tank. In response, Mirjaiki’s swift dragons and magic-wielding attackers unleashed a crushing counter-offensive. Their precise, coordinated strikes systematically dismantled the vulnerable back-line attackers of Kira1995.
The fate of the match was effectively sealed in the second round. While Kira1995’s team sought openings to strike, Mirjaiki’s magic attackers landed a decisive blow, taking down the opponent’s cornerstone—Gram Flameblade. With their main tank fallen, the remaining monsters in the Fire-themed team were left completely exposed. Unable to withstand the offensive advantages provided by Nidhogg and the versatile capabilities of the Dragon faction, they crumbled. In a brief yet intensely dramatic battle lasting only two rounds, Mirjaiki obliterated Kira1995’s entire squad, securing an unforgettable victory.
This encounter demonstrates that in Splinterlands, victory is not guaranteed merely by employing aggressive Summoners or high-cost cards. Success hinges on the ability to read the battlefield, deploy effective defenses to thwart enemy assaults, and exploit the opponent’s weaknesses. This stunning, one-sided victory for Mirjaiki earned crucial points for his team, YGG Brawlers, in the Brawl League standings and significantly boosted the morale of the entire guild.
