The moment you enter into the ancient sites, you feel the history right away. Here, I would like to show some pictures of the site that I have visited before. These are taken at the Atique/Jameh Mosque in Isfahan. I will never forget that day when I visited the Jameh Mosque because of the mysterious atmosphere created by dark clouds which threatened to rain.
These pictures show the excellence of the architects who built such an old building. The first picture is taken in the large yard of the Jameh Mosque. The sky is grey, but the patterns decorating the walls are still beautiful. You can see pigeons everywhere, both walking around and flying in the sky. I spent some time just looking at them there. Flying between old, tall minarets, the birds gave me a feeling of complete inner peace. The only thing the birds cared about was the peaceful place.
The other point of view demonstrates the interior from within the dark passage to the bright courtyard. One can observe people going in silhouettes. This moment seemed like time traveling to the past. The huge arch frames the view perfectly. Standing in this dark passage, I felt that the stone was cold under my feet, but the sunlight streaming from the yard made me warm. I wanted to show how the interplay of dark and light spaces creates this magnificent architecture of the mosque.
The last point I would like to highlight is the splendid ceiling. I have taken one picture in black and white because I wanted to show the magnificent masonry without any colors disturbing. The bricks are arranged in circles and arches until they form a round hole in the ceiling. From there, the white sunlight pours into the dark space and forms the small sun inside it. Looking up at it, my neck is sore, but I do not want to tear myself away from the sight.
I believe these pictures prove that beauty remains immortal. No matter how gray and depressing the weather may be, the blue tiles, the old bricks, and the lines of the structure will appeal to your soul. I recorded this experience for myself to remember that peaceful afternoon when I sat among the pigeons in Isfahan for many years to come. Every time I get sick and tired of the contemporary world, it brings me joy.
