Even if you are not someone who actively follows football, like me, it would be impossible not to have heard that the FIFA World Cup was held during the second half of June and the first half of July 2026. Some of the interesting facts I read about are that three countries hosted it (Canada, Mexico, and the United States) and that there were 104 matches. In our home, it is my son and husband who have watched a couple of matches (maybe more than a couple of them - I didn't count and didn't watch them 馃槀). The only exception was the final. I did watch that one! 馃嚜馃嚫

When the World Cup started, I had the idea to set a monthly theme related to it. Maybe stickers, tradable cards, albums... but I didn't have enough material for that. I still don't have many things to show related to it 馃槄, however, after a little encouragement from sofathana@sofathana, I decided to go for it. She posted her album with stickers from 1990 and in my comment I already told her that it crossed my mind to bring it as a topic. Because of her response: What does it matter if you don't have many cards? Just do it., this topic is here.

A few days after her collection, another album by iuliapetit2711@iuliapetit2711 came to the community, so the decision was made. In August, you can bring the items related to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Hence the monthly theme:

In Spain, some of the hypermarkets were selling items related to the Spanish team. You could combine the "points" you get while purchasing regular stuff, and then you get a discount on the final price. For example, a mug cost 5,99 euros, but if you already had two points, you could pay 3,99 to get the mug.

There were also canteens, t-shirts, footballs, sticker albums, sticker packs, caps, beach towels, or sets of t-shirts and shorts for children to buy and make a collection.

Pfff... it seems I am not a good collector as I bought nothing from this offer! 馃槺

However, we got two packets of trading cards. My son opened just one as he said it would have more value if he didn't open it. Time will tell if he was right.

The shirt you see in the first photo of this post was bought by him before the end of the World Cup. Here, it is a tradition to watch important matches with friends, in squares where they have set up large monitors or in bars and cafes with large screens. Of course, the final was one of those matches, the most important. It seems that he wanted to be in line with the team he supports, so he bought himself that red shirt. And I think... maybe that is why Spain won. 馃槈

Just kidding, of course; the team that played better won, and I was happy about that victory too.

Well, even though I am not a big football fan, the FIFA World Cup has touched our home in some way, even if it happened in a very modest way.

And what about you? Have you received or collected any items related to this event? Do you have any memorabilia from the 2026 FIFA World Cup? If so, please share your collection in the Hive Collectors community. 馃槆

If you are not interested in this topic, but would still like to participate in the life of this community in some way, feel free to browse this list of all the previous topics we have had officially since the beginning of the monthly initiatives. It took me a whole day to gather them all in one place 馃う鈥嶁檧, but they are now catalogued. Monthly topics are there as inspiration, but they never expire; I have already mentioned that a few times. Maybe you don't have time at the time I post a topic or you just haven't seen it... that doesn't mean you have missed the chance to show off your collection. So, here it is, and I will try to always refresh this list and post it at the end of the monthly topics, so that it can be used as additional information and inspiration.

I wish you all a successful new month and have fun. 馃槂
