May 1st is Labor Day in Korea. Not all workers get the day off, especially it is not meant as a day off for public servants. Our school decided to use this day as an extra vacation day avoiding any labor conflicts. This gave me an opportunity to read at home and play with animation.

I have no experience at all in animation, but I like to tell stories and I like to scribble cartoons. So I wanted to use the animations as puppets. I want them to be able to sing and dance and act out parts in stories. I also wanted to use my own original characters. I just didn't want to have to draw the characters over and over for every key frame.

A lot of people use adobe and flash player to make animation but I am finding a lot more out there. The simplest animating app is "Drawing Cartoons 2". That's the one I'm working with in the picture my son took. In this app you can work with bones in movement. The app allows some freedom to create and draw characters. The app also allows me to import sounds and maybe backgrounds. This an app even my kids could use.

I also looked at Muvisu a program to direct animations that are already programed and Opentoons a program to basically do frame by frame animation like Pencil 2 D.

I would think that by 2019 there would be some really creative, interactive apps for animating, but so far have found a steep learning curve in almost every program.

I like roundbeargames@roundbeargames use of unity to animate 3D characters. He has a lot of cool tutorials. The process has kept him busy for over a year now. Now it's labor day and I appreciate laborers of all kinds and see that nothing really does come easy.

Any suggestion for a good way to animate?
