Good thing there's a new RPC node available, bravo.
Consider your witness votes
As you consider who you vote for please include:
Do they steadily witness blocks with no disruption?
Are they present and attentive at Hardfork time?
Do they run full nodes to support the network?
Do they help with curation to onboard and keep new users?
Do they create apps or services on the platform that benefit users?
Do they code key features into the blockchain?
Do they provide value for the network?
Reasons 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7 are solid and exactly the reason why I like to change my witness votes quite often. Not that my stake is a game changer, but it is what it is.
As for 5 and 6, I really don't get it why everyone with dev skills is automatically qualified as a good witness. Witnesses are block producers and should be treated as such. With respect of course because some of them often run their servers on a loss (especially the ones down the ladder). Having development skills is simply a bonus, not a prerequisite. And if we keep bombarding people with the idea that a good witness should possess dev skills no matter what we essentially tell them: "Hey you are not good for this job"
I like the idea of having a mixture of people in the top 20 - 30. Some devs, good curators, people who are not afraid to spoil their images for the greater good and so on...people like r0ndon ...or Crim...they ain't devs. Yet they are always helpful and contribute to the community in other ways.
Of course we need some sick devs too. Just not everyone needs to be one...
Just my thoughts.
