Witness update: HIVE RPC

In an effort to support the Hive ecosystem I've started running an RPC. I'd like to thank privex@privex and someguy123@someguy123 for helping to get this up and running. I do plan on managing it on my own, but as I'm just learning and so far I find managing an RPC substantially trickier than a witness box or compact broadcast node. I'll require their help and support to start. My hope is that by the end of the year I'll know the necessary steps and commands to fully operate it independent of them.

Server Specs

  • CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz
  • Disk: 3x1TB NVMe SSD
  • RAM: 64GB DDR4
  • Location: Helsinki, Finland

The Account History is running without MIRA enabled for fast replays. The main Full Memory part of the RPC is running with MIRA enabled for efficient resource usage.

NGINX is used for the web server, with Jussi used for caching, splitting queries between the two Hive instances, plus compatibility with older software.

For the Community

It's a public node open to anyone and any project at hived.hive-engine.com.

This is in addition to the compact broadcast node that I run for splinterlands at hived.splinterlands.com.

Here are other RPCs that I can recommend

(if I missed any please let me know).

RPC Plugins

The following are enabled for the RPC Core portion (Full Memory Mode):

plugin = witness network_broadcast_api condenser_api database_api webserver p2p json_rpc
plugin = block_api rc_api
plugin = reputation reputation_api
plugin = market_history market_history_api

The following are enabled for the RPC Account History portion (Low Memory Mode):

plugin = witness network_broadcast_api condenser_api database_api block_api
plugin = account_by_key account_by_key_api
plugin = account_history_rocksdb account_history_api

Hivemind

Hivemind isn't ready yet, but that will be offered as well.

To run your own Hive nodes I strongly recommend working with privex@privex and someguy@someguy

If you do choose to order servers please use this link.

Other activities

Hive-Engine is operational on Hive. A dozen tribes have migrated so far. Token pairs are starting to see some market action. Marketplace functionality and a P2P witness system are in development.

Hive Manual Curation

I founded the Minnow Support Project which has since migrated to Hive. We've built up over 100,000 Hive native to the account and I delegate an additional 100k. This means the project with support from other community members as well has over 200k Hive Power which is primarily manually curating and supporting users and projects on the platform.

MSP Waves

I continue to host multiple shows on MSP Waves helping people get access to information or promote themselves or their projects.

Keychain

I helped create and design Keychain, which is one of the most widely used free services on the platform.

Splinterlands

I'm CEO of splinterlands, which has started accepting Hive and HBD as payment and will continue to integrate Hive deeper into the game.

Stake

By personal stake and keys I hold I believe I'm in the top 20 stakeholders on the platform.

Consider your witness votes

As you consider who you vote for please include:

  • Do they steadily witness blocks with no disruption?
  • Are they present and attentive at Hardfork time?
  • Do they run full nodes to support the network?
  • Do they help with curation to onboard and keep new users?
  • Do they create apps or services on the platform that benefit users?
  • Do they code key features into the blockchain?
  • Do they provide value for the network?
