I once heard that there is a shared identity in that place that some people happen to call Asia... That it is shared Asian values and Asian Family Values.

But the thing is few Asian countries don't have any family values at all.

20% of Korean men have engaged in prostitution. Korean households do not go to bed by 7 p.m. and are out with their children to 12 a.m. Exposing them to alcohol bars and all kinds of things that have nothing to do with family values.People’s Party lawmaker Kim Kwang-soo acquired The HIRAS study, which found that the number of South Koreans kids from the age of 10 to 19 seeking treatment for alcohol-related issues has jumped by 25 percent (!), from 1,415 cases in 2012 to 1,767 cases in 2016. China has similar problems.

So since Korea and China do not have any remnants of family values what exactly does it mean when they say Asian values?
