The Pain of Love
Sometimes I wish I
could forget the people that
hurt me. I want to mentally
discard every touch of
thiers I felt, every touch of mine
they recieved and every word
we exchanged just so I can get a
little closer to being the open
person that I used to be.
Nowadays, I choke on the word
love. When I want to say it, fear
punches me in the stomach and all
i can do is close my eyes and try
to remember how to breathe.
I often find myself waiting
to open up as if somehow
the more time we spend together,
the less likely to screw me over
they become.
I know there's no real correlation, but
I do it anyway. It would be nice
not to feel the need to, but on the other
hand, I've become stronger because of
the pain I felt, and it's because I know
what this pain feels like.
So when I decide to stop
running, I love everything in me. I'll
make sure to give them fresh love
free of the poison the others before
they give me.
Twisted as it may seem,
Somehow all of this hurting
had some kind of benefit.
Maybe forgetting isn't necessary
after all.
