My bedroom freezes
and dullness caves in
from all four corners at night.
I pull covers overhead
searching places
that feel safe,
like a fool forgets that
darkness begets darkness.
But I’m not surprised at myself,
my impulses are bereft of logic;
have you never seen me cry
everytime happiness stops by?
There are worse games that I like to play
so I still let myself want you
from all four corners at night;
since love begets love
and maybe that’s only how
I could rid myself of you.
I'm a foolish girl,
even kids could tell that
fire and fire
never burn out
but
I had to keep the room warm somehow
