Time goes by too fast for me to make space for procrastination. So, with a cup of coffee first thing, I get right into gear and attack my tasks head-on.
Being organised and having a little structure is good, so I try to fit a mid-morning coffee break, and sometimes an evening coffee break into my schedule.
What better time to have a treat than on a Monday, eh?
I prefer looking at tarts to eating them because I do not have that much of a sweet tooth. Still, I couldn't resist the cherry on this lovely Bakewell tart.
These tarts are available at any local supermarket here in the UK and are perfect with a cup of latte for my mid-morning snack.
I do find that taking short breaks is a good chance for me to review my to-do list and reprioritise tasks, refresh and energise my mind, and break the monotony of the day's flow.
Motivation is fickle, and it comes in bursts, whereas coffee is a reliable beverage that helps to stabilise my motivation and keep my spirits high. High spirits, give happy thoughts, and happy thoughts make me feel happy emotions that imbue my attitude.
Furthermore, looking at the screen continually throughout the day causes a strain on the eyes, so little short breaks do wonders.
Another way for me to fight Monday Blues is by popping out to a nearby coffee house or restaurant for a treat. My last stop was at this quaint-looking pub/restaurant called The Linny.
I love charming buildings like these with old 14th Century thatched roofs. I avoided taking many photos of the inside to not be intrusive to other customers, but here you can get a glimpse of the low ceiling with its original wooden beams.
The Linny is homely and located in the countryside, so going for a meal or just a dessert feels like popping over to the neighbours for an evening meal.
On this occasion, I had an Affogato, a combination of two of my favourite foods, with a small slice of my friend's bread pudding.
It's seldom that I have a coffee for a late evening treat, but I thought an espresso with ice cream could not harm. I was right! This was the perfect jolt for me to get back into working on my evening tasks.
My mind is more relaxed doing random things than having set routines, so breaking up the day in creative ways helps to keep me motivated all day on Mondays, and sets the pace right for the rest of the week.
Mondays motivate me to try new things and visit new places for coffee and treats, which in turn influences my optimism through to the weekend, till it's Monday again:)
Do you suffer from the Monday Blues?
Does coffee contribute to your day in any way?
Thanks for stopping by, until next time:)
