The Bible tells us and shows us that humanity is enslaved and dead in its crimes and sins since it is subject to all kinds of fashions, current affairs and rudiments that society imposes on them and they are slaves of their own ways.
Certainly the man who does not submit to God is a slave to sin but God who is great in mercy gave us life even when we were dead in our crimes and sins.
God is the true freedom of mankind only through Him man can choose his freedom since to whom Jesus Christ will free you will be truly free.
In this sense the book of Ephesians tells us:
Ephesians 2
2 And he gave life to you, when you were dead in your crimes and sins,
2 in which you walked in another time, following the current of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now operates in the children of disobedience.

This is really what God does with all those who turn to Him since before knowing God we were following the currents of this world and subjected to all the things that the world throws to distract humanity almost forcing them to obey as modern norms .
In this order of ideas it is understood that only God gives freedom to man through his son Jesus Christ because when God reveals himself to us as the only path of peace and happiness on this earth and man does not walk according to the rudiments of the world because he does not He can stay the same, his life changes and is transformed according to what God establishes in his word.
2 Corinthians 5:17
17 So if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; old things happened; Behold, they are all made new.

This means that man already changes his mind and life and lives at all times hopeful and trusting God when life seems unsafe or when he has adversities contrary to what God establishes.
The psalmist David rested in God and knew perfectly who his creator was because in difficult times he cried out to God with confidence and conviction
Psalm 7: 1-5
7 Jehovah my God, I have trusted in you;
Save me from all who persecute me, and deliver me,
2 lest they tear my soul like a lion,
And they tear me apart without anyone who frees me.
3 Jehovah my God, if I have done this,
If there is iniquity in my hands;
4 If I gave bad payment to the one who was at peace with me
(Before I freed the one who without cause was my enemy),
5 The enemy pursues my soul, and reaches it;
Find my life on the ground,
