Hola de nuevo Mérida 🏔️✨// Hello again Mérida 🏔️✨

Hace cinco años tuve la oportunidad de hacer un viaje a Mérida, Venezuela. Una ciudad encantadora que le aporta a Venezuela no solo la cordillera de los Andes, la nieve, los mucuchies y las personas más nobles sino unos paisajes que te enamoran a penas los ves y no te dejan la menor duda que son de lo más hermosos que verás en tu vida ✨.

Ese viaje fue perfecto y prometí regresar todas las veces que quisiera. Este año pude regresar y afortunadamente con las mismas personas que hacen que mis viajes sean los mejores e inolvidables, mi familia ❤️. Fue más corto que el anterior ya que en su momento duró una semana y este solo tres días, pero se disfrutó igual.

Five years ago, I had the opportunity to take a trip to Mérida, Venezuela. It’s a charming city that brings to Venezuela not only the Andes Mountains, snow, mucuchies, and the most noble people, but also landscapes that make you fall in love the moment you see them and leave you in no doubt that they are among the most beautiful sights you’ll ever see in your life ✨.

That trip was perfect, and I promised myself I’d return as often as I wanted. This year I was able to go back—and fortunately, with the same people who make my trips the best and most unforgettable: my family ❤️. It was shorter than the last one—that trip lasted a week, while this one was only three days—but I enjoyed it just as much.

En este viaje visite las mayoría de los lugares que había conocido anteriormente, pero realmente anhelaba volver a estar allí ya que sinceramente si se quedaron en mi corazón.

El viaje comenzó el día jueves en la noche, salimos de Barquisimeto rumbo a Mérida. El autobús era de lo más cómodo del mundo y tenía wi-fi 🛜 lo que le daba un automáticamente un 100/10 y la música súper acertada 😂.

Después de cinco horas aproximadamente llegamos a ✨ Mérida ✨ específicamente a La casa de los pasteles, un restaurante donde su especialidad son los pastelitos tan característicos del estado como los de papa con queso y miles de sabores más. Lo primero que nos recibió al bajar del autobús fue el frío que estaba haciendo y cabe acotar que eran las 6:00 am y se estaba empezando a ver el amanecer y el frío que lo acompaña 🍃.

On this trip, I visited most of the places I’d been to before, but I really longed to be there again because, honestly, they’ve stayed in my heart.

The trip began on Thursday night; we left Barquisimeto headed for Mérida. The bus was the most comfortable in the world and had Wi-Fi 🛜—which automatically earned it a 100/10—and the music was spot-on 😂.

After about five hours, we arrived in ✨ Mérida ✨, specifically at La Casa de los Pasteles, a restaurant specializing in the state’s signature pastries, such as potato and cheese pastries and thousands of other flavors. The first thing that greeted us when we got off the bus was how cold it was—it was 6:00 a.m., and we could see the sunrise beginning, along with the chill that comes with it

Lo primero que teniamos que hacer era desayunar y obviamente, en la casa de los pasteles donde yo pedí un pastel de papa con queso (para mí el mejor de todos) y otro de mozzarella con maíz, además de un latte vainilla para acompañar y así calentar el cuerpo jaja.

Luego de desayunar, tomarnos fotos y conocer a los perritos que Mérida siempre te regala en cada lugar a dónde vas era hora de montarse de nuevo en el autobús rumbo a nuestro próximo destino.

Si en la primera parada ya el frío estaba fuerte en la siguiente iba a ser más pero sin duda era el destino que más me daba ilusión del día La laguna de Mucubaji 💙.

The first thing we had to do was have breakfast, and of course, at the pastry shop, where I ordered a potato-and-cheese pastry (the best one, in my opinion) and a mozzarella-and-corn pastry, along with a vanilla latte to go with them and warm me up, haha.

After breakfast, taking photos, and meeting the little dogs that Mérida always has waiting for you everywhere you go, it was time to hop back on the bus headed for our next destination.

If it was already really cold at the first stop, it was going to be even colder at the next one—but it was definitely the destination I was most excited about that day: Mucubaji Lagoon 💙.

La primera vez que visité esta laguna no pude apreciarla muy bien porque la neblina bajó y casi la tapa por completo y aunque se veía hermosa no le hacía justicia a lo hermosa que realmente es, de verdad casi lloro cuando llegue está vez y todo estaba despejado y con un clima hermoso de verdad una de las mejores vistas del mundo 😍.

El lugar estaba prácticamente solo porque todavía era temprano y así pudimos disfrutarla mejor, respirar aire puro y admirar tanta belleza ✨.

Luego de tomarnos fotos en todos lados 😂 decidimos hacer un recorrido ya que anteriormente no lo habíamos hecho así que nos adentramos en el bosque para admirar su belleza, todo era hermoso definitivamente un paisaje que solo Mérida puede regalarnos 🥹✨.

The first time I visited this lagoon, I couldn’t really appreciate it because the fog rolled in and almost completely covered it. Even though it looked beautiful, it didn’t do justice to how truly stunning it really is. I honestly almost cried when I arrived this time and everything was clear, with absolutely gorgeous weather—truly one of the best views in the world 😍.

The place was practically empty because it was still early, so we were able to enjoy it even more—breathing in the fresh air and taking in all that beauty ✨.

After taking photos everywhere 😂, we decided to go for a walk since we hadn’t done that before, so we ventured into the forest to admire its beauty. Everything was stunning—definitely a landscape that only Mérida can offer us 🥹✨.

Luego de disfrutar un rato de la laguna y sus alrededores era hora de irnos a nuestro próximo destino "El pico el águila 🦅" allí si nos agarró la neblina y un frío mucho más fuerte ya que estábamos mucho más alto y aunque aquí ver el lugar si se dificultó un poco, igual fue hermoso ✨.

Acá de verdad el frío estaba muy fuerte y necesitábamos algo de calor así que nos compramos unos chocolates calientes y de verdad fué de las mejores decisiones de nuestras vidas 😂.

Era hora de ir a almorzar así que nuevamente nos pusimos rumbo a la siguiente parada donde comeríamos y aprovechariamos para comprar algunas cositas si queríamos, nuestra siguiente parada era "La loca Luz Caraballo"

After spending some time enjoying the lagoon and its surroundings, it was time to head to our next destination, “El Pico El Águila 🦅.” There, we were hit by fog and much colder temperatures since we were at a much higher elevation, and even though it was a little harder to take in the view, it was still beautiful ✨.

It was really, really cold here, and we needed something to warm us up, so we bought some hot chocolate—and it was honestly one of the best decisions of our lives 😂.

It was time for lunch, so we headed off again to our next stop, where we’d eat and take the opportunity to buy a few little things if we wanted. Our next stop was “La Loca Luz Caraballo.”

Allí ya realmente no teníamos muchas energías, yo estaba súper cansada del viaje y realmente no dormí casi nada así que no solo estaba agotada físicamente por las caminatas sino por la falta de descanso que tenia, así que solo quería ir a comer para agarrar energías.

El restaurante estaba lindo, muy criollo y obviamente no podía pedir otra cosa que no fuera trucha, específicamente trucha al ajillo que como dato curioso, la pescan allí mismo ☺️.

La comida estaba deliciosa, la vista a Apartaderos era preciosa y de paso nos habían listo Harry Potter y el prisionero de Azkaban 😂.

By then, we really didn’t have much energy left. I was super tired from the trip and hadn’t really slept at all, so I was physically exhausted not only from all the walking but also from the lack of rest. All I wanted to do was go eat to recharge.

The restaurant was cute, very traditional, and obviously I couldn’t order anything other than trout—specifically, garlic trout, which, fun fact, they catch right there ☺️.

The food was delicious, the view of Apartaderos was beautiful, and, as a bonus, they’d even set out a copy of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban for us 😂.

Cómo última parada de ese día pasamos por la Capilla de piedra dónde escuchamos la historia por unos niños de páramo más hermosos con sus cachetitos rosados del frío, vimos cachorros de perritos mucuchies pasamos a la casa del señor que levantó la capilla de piedra, ahora convertida en un museo donde las personas pueden entrar y conocer más de el y la persona que fue 😌.

Ya mi ser no andaba para más y en todo el recorrido hasta la posada donde nos quedariamos en nuestra estadía en Mérida me quedé dormida, de verdad necesitaba unos minutos de sueño reparador, aunque afortunadamente el camino era de una hora aproximadamente 😂.

Luego llegamos por fin a la posada donde nos recibieron de la manera más acogedora del mundo, en las habitaciones habían unos brownies con tarjetas de bienvenidas de parte del tour, y el resto de la tarde solo nos dedicamos a recorrer toda la posada y ver su belleza, su jardines y lo acogedora que es ❤️.

As our last stop of the day, we stopped by the Stone Chapel, where we heard the story from some of the cutest children from the páramo, their cheeks rosy from the cold. We saw Mucuchí puppy litters and stopped by the house of the man who built the Stone Chapel—now turned into a museum where people can go inside and learn more about him and the kind of person he was 😌.

I was completely exhausted, and I fell asleep during the entire drive to the inn where we’d be staying during our time in Mérida—I really needed a few minutes of restful sleep, though fortunately the drive was only about an hour 😂.

Then we finally arrived at the inn, where we were welcomed in the most warm and inviting way imaginable. In the rooms, there were brownies with welcome cards from the tour, and we spent the rest of the afternoon simply exploring the entire inn and taking in its beauty, its gardens, and just how cozy it is ❤️.
