As a new Steemit user, I'll admit I was drawn in by the somewhat lucrative payout for content I was consuming. Now I read that some are jumping ship to other blockchains. Is that a warning of things to come? When I first joined, I would see uncompelling articles on Steemit somehow earning $10-50. And I'm talking lame, lame, lame copy/paste articles.

This seems to be a "pay to play" scheme. Hence articles like this: @shteev0/where-s-the-beef-sacha-baron-cohen-on-authenticity - Take a gander at his Wallet history and you'll see how much effort goes into post promotion.

And by the way, what the heck happened to the SBD/USD rate? Jeez, glad I didn't buy in back in January...

Again, I'm still new to this ecosystem and I hope it flourishes, but I think these problems need to be addressed. You can't have 65% of the voting power being held by 50 accounts. That's nonsense.

But there's hope right?

According to some, the system is fixing itself...

THE SYSTEM IS WORKING AS IT IS DESIGNED!!!!
The rich are not getting richer. In fact, more of the pie is going to the smaller accounts.
On Jan 31st, the Whales and Orcas has 310,770 MVests; on February 15, 2018, 304,488...a decrease of 2.02%.

So maybe the whales are being speared and order is being restored. Maybe it's just not as fast as I would like. Time will tell...
