Dramatisation of a Story : To turn a story into a drama, you have to adapt it. This means you have to work on the plot, structure and dialogues of the story. You may not need the entire story to convert into a drama. As for example, a very small section of Victor Hugo's famous novel La miserable was converted into a one-act play called The Bushop's Candlesticks by Norman McKinnel.
So, before dramatising a story, at first, select a story that you want to dramatise. Then, read the whole story thorough and make notes as you go along. Edit the parts of appropriately. If the story is too long you will need to shorten it in size, but try not to lose the vital material. Make a not of all characters, scenes, props, objects, sounds and ideas of costumes.
Next, write down the characters that you want to include in your play. You must also decide which character you want to make as the protagonist.
Now create scenes in your in your play. This simplifies the storyline, bring ease of understanding and allows the group to manage a beginning, middle and end.
