Asarnha Bucha Day is a day to remember 3 important events that happened in Buddhism:
- It was the day the first religion was announced. There was a first sermon
- It is the day that the three Rattanatri were born, namely the Buddha, the Dharma, and the monk.
- It was the day when Lord Gondanya saw the eyes of the Dharma for the first time. After listening to the first sermon

วันอาสาฬหบูชา เป็นวันระลึกถึงเหตุการณ์สำคัญที่เกิดขึ้นในศาสนาพุทธ ๓ ประการ คือ
- เป็นวันที่มีการประกาศศาสนาครั้งเเรก มีการเเสดงปฐมเทศนา
- เป็นวันที่เกิดพระรัตนไตรครบ ๓ องค์คือ พระพุทธ พระธรรม พระสงฆ์
- เป็นวันที่พระโกณฑัญญะได้เห็นดวงตาธรรมครั้งเเรก หลังจากฟังปฐมเทศนาจบ
ในประเทศไทยได้กำหนดให้วันนี้เป็นวันสำคัญอีกวันหนึ่งในทางพระพุทธศานา เเเละเป็นวันหยุดราชการ ได้ให้ประชาชนชาวพุทธไปทำบุญ เเละเวียนเทียนในตอนเย็น นอกจากวันอาสาฬบูชาเเล้วในวันถัดไปยังเป็นวันเข้าพรรษา ชาวพุทธจะยึดถือเป็นประเพณีนำเทียนไปถวายพระภิกษุในเทศกาลเข้าพรรรษา โดยมีความเชื่อว่าเป็นการปรารถนาให้ตนเองเป็นผู้เฉลียวฉลาด มีไหวพริบ ประดุจดังเเสงสว่างของดวงเทียน
