Yesterday evening I booked a table at a casual French bistrot in Kitashinshi, which is an entertainment district near Umeda in Osaka. When we arrived it turned out to be very small, empty and a little overpriced, with red wine costing from 6000 yen for a bottle. The food menu was very limited too. The bar specialized n Champagne at 1300 yen for a glass, but we didn't feel like Champagne. We ate "Madame platter" consisting of quiche, cheese, ham and salad for 1800 yen and had a glass of red wine each for 800 yen. This was reasonable but we decided to leave and go to another restaurant that is famous for maboudofu. This is tofu with spicy minced meat. In this restaurant it also contained tripe which was too chewy for my friend. Nevertheless, this restaurant is famous for maboudofu in Osaka. We also ate gyoza which are Chinese dumplings stuffed with mince meat. We drank a bottle of Errazurriz Chilean Cabernet Merlot fir 4000 yen. The bill came to 8000 yen, which was reasonable for an area that can be pricey and has many hostess clubs and bars aimed at businessmen.
