Generally this exercise is done to tighten the back muscles (buttocks) and muscles of the thighs, calves, and the middle part of the body (back). Lunges has many benefits, including to maintain the flexibility of the hip bones, maintain balance, tighten and strengthen the back muscles.
Before doing lunges, stand in an upright position, stretch your legs and hold a few moments to straighten the spinal muscles and make the abdominal muscles become supple. Step your right foot forward with your heel touching the ground or the floor first.
Bend the right knee followed by the left leg which is also bent so as to make the body position slightly down but still in an upright position and foresight. After that, pull back the body position by returning the right leg to the point or original position. Do it several times to get optimal results. This movement is a variation of lunges, which is usually called forward lunges.
