A couple of weeks ago I made a post asking what your top features for Steemit would be, but this time around I want to ask you, and share what my top 5 features for the Steem block chain are.
#1. Communities
I've pretty much completely stopped using Facebook, but when I do go back there the ONLY thing I look at is the various groups I'm in. I'm in groups primarily that are focused around art and software that I use. People share their latest work, tips and tricks, and can get help troubleshooting issues they might run into. This is the only value left that Facebook has to me, and I think Steem absolutely NEEDS this.
Currently Steem is like a global village, and while that might sound nice to say, functionally it just means at any given moment most of what you're going to see is stuff that you have no interest in. Of course over time you find who to follow and that dramatically improves the experience, but that takes quite a while.
#2. A Pay wall
I think the ability to have exclusive content on Steem would add HUGE value for end users. This would also feed into my belief that we need a better UX flow for donations. Having content that you can't access unless a certain threshold is reached would incentivise people to buy Steem. It would also help us to eat away market from Patreon.
#3. SMT's
Duh. This is pretty much the holy grail for a lot of users here, and I too believe it would be huge for Steem. Once developers can create their own token and have it be branded to their project as well as have the same/similar functionality of Steem, this will add a ton of utility to Steem and allow our network to grow exponentially.
#4. No time limit on the monetization of posts
The fact that Steem has this 7 day monetization window, I think has the potential to doom us to mediocrity in the future. No one that has something that they feel is extremely valuable will want to only and exclusively want to release it on Steem. I think we should be doing the opposite. We should be brainsorming how we can get people to post exclusively on Steem.
#5. A Community Funded Project System
Obviously there are several of these in the making, so that's pretty exciting.
