Splinterlands recently celebrated 8 years of the game. While the game has come a long way, it has not been smooth sailing and not everyone has stuck around. It made me think, how many people have stuck around all this time? Feel free to let me know in the comments below how long you have played for and if you left and returned or even left and did not return.
While not all will agree that Splinterlands is in a good place at the moment. I have seen plenty of positive signs, such as the team keep the game funded and possibly even earning money if some sources are to be believed. All in the time when a lot of Web 3 games are going under. I have also witnessed former players returning to the game after being away for many years. And of course continued development of the game. I personally see all these signs adding up to a general positive outlook for the game.
The only real negatives I hear about the game are that it is too costly to buy a maxed deck. And about the games tradeable tokens DEC and SPS being too low in price and not holding value. If this is all we need to work on I feel like we are doing well, since pretty much all game tokens in Web 3 spiral in value over time, from what I have seen. Some very quickly after launch I might add.
Splinterlands has proven itself to be a leader in the Web 3/Crypto/Blockchain Gaming space in my opinion. I have played many Web 3 games over the years only to watch them either slowly or rapidly die. Some of these games had great graphics and gameplay that would rival Web 2 games. And yet they still failed, many through poor management as the Developers/Owners struggled to get the tokenomics right and/or burnt through the money they received for sales to the players/community.
Splinterlands now has four ranked battle modes Frontier, Modern, Wild and Survival. Land and resources. Standard cards and land cards. The game even has duel purpose card in the form of the Elecrofox, which can be used on both land and in battles to get you Electronium and other rewards.
