Hello Steemit,
My name is Michael Rorke AKA Money Mic (Rap name – I don’t really like the name coz I feel it isn’t really a good label for my character; but it was a name given to me by my peers coz I spit Money\Value on the Mic so I just kept it, lol… )but most people call me Money. My user name is @mickeymic because
@moneymic was taken and I thought I called it
@mikeymic not
@mickeymic so if someone know how to change that, please let me know in the comments… I’ll really appreciate it. I’d describe myself as a Hip hop hippie… a pretty balanced guy that’s musically inclined. I’m all about peace, Love, unity and having fun\ but I wouldn’t hesitate to pull a trigger of a gun! … if need be lol…
I Live in South Africa… a culturally diverse country with a famous history. I love this place; I think it’s a beautiful country. I was born in a small town in Mthatha which is in the Transkei which is where the famous Nelson Mandela was also born. My family originates from Kwa Zulu Natal, which was colonized by the British in the 1800’s. I’m a product of the Native Zulus and the colonizing British, so I'm Colored (Colored is the name for the race of mixed race South African’s). One of the most famous battles fought between the Zulu and British Army was the battle of Rorke’s drift which was one of my Forefather’s (on the Irish side of me) trading post. They made a movie about it called ‘Zulu’. Apparently “Africa Bambata”, one of the founding fathers of Hip hop, was inspired by this movie; hence the name ‘African Bambata and the Zulu Nation’. There’s also a book by one my great, great aunties who was one of the first Rorke coloreds\mixed race… she tells the history of the Rorke coloreds in South Africa and James Michael Rorke who was an Irish man and was rewarded a Zulu princess as his bride for rescuing the Zulu chief’s son. She speaks of the cultural divisions colored people face in South Africa, especially in terms of spirituality and lifestyle. The book is called “Winifred and Agnes” you can read a review about it here: *VeryInterestingRead
Here’s a link to “Zulu” (Personally I think it’s a classic movie)
