Hello hivers.......

Something happened today and it left me thinking deeply, I randomly thought of an old friend today, we were friends for three years but we had issues that made us cut communication with each other and end our friendship.

Today I randomly thought of the good times I had with her and I was smiling so much without even knowing. A friend of mine who was with me at that moment asked what I was smiling at, I told her I remembered my good times with this old friend, I missed her so much and hoped she was doing good.

But then my friend said "I thought you said you can't be friends with her anymore, why are you thinking of her and smiling?"
She made it sound like I was betraying myself for the smiling to the good memories this old friend and I made even though we were no longer friends but I didn't see it that way or feel that way at all.

I started to wonder why we try so hard to forget the people we once loved and erase every memory we made with them, both good and bad forgetting that the main purpose of having people come into our lives is to make memories we can cherish even after they leave as nothing is guaranteed to last forever.

In a rush to let go off these people we harden our hearts into believing they are bad people, we forget that at a certain time they were able to genuinely make us happy. It's a sad reality that people grow apart, the sense of direction and needs in friendship changes, the commitment to each other fades away but the memories should be cherished and held onto no matter how it ended, because we once loved them dearly and they also loved us, they once connected with us and supported us as much as they could.

So today, I want you to lay down the grudges, pain and bitterness you might have experienced while they were in your life, I want you to think of how much happiness they made you feel and realise that though it didn't end well, it was all worth it. Let go of the hurt and embrace the good memories.
