I understand that rules are rules, but when you are the only one that follows them, what is the point. You are not getting praised by doing it. You end up looking like the black sheep, not the one to be put on the horror role. No one talks about how you follow the rules all the time, everyone DOES talk about how you can’t seem to bend them, just a tad, sometimes. You don’t have to be a hard ass to please upper management as your team sees you as an ass kisser. You aren’t even getting the acknowledgment for sucking up so much. How does that make you feel?
We work very hard around here. We deserve a few laughs or be allowed to celebrate certain holidays. We are all grown. We respect each other’s beliefs and values. We bring dishes that do not include pork, veggie trays, and sweets of all flavors. Why do we have to do fun stuff when you want to? Why the holidays, our team cannot participate? You are being a Grinch that stole ALL fun!
When I am in charge of whatever team I create, here or on my own venture, I will be the best boss. My team will respect me, work hard for me, and look at me as a person that knows how to have fun. It is not crazy fun, but corporate fun. Our children can’t have Halloween parties anymore. They can’t do Valentine’s Day. They can’t do Christmas exchange either. Society has taken it all away. They won’t ever experience what we did when we went to school. Now you want to do it to adults too. No one is contesting any of the celebrations.
