Capri if by far one of the most most beautiful islands I have visited so far. I started off the day by taking a catamaran out of Sorrento. The ride over to the island took about 45 minutes and let me tell you, the waves were not so forgiving. Once aboard the island, I was swamped with taxi drivers looking to give rides. But, these taxi's were no ordinary city taxi's. They were convertibles that were covered with what looked like an "awning" that attach to your house, all decorated in different brightly colored styles. Once taking a cab up the island I arrived at the main center and was told that I had to visit the top of Anacapri. Monte Solara is the highest point in capri and I could not afford to miss out on the views. I was already bummed that I could not visit the "Blue Grotto" because of the high incoming tides, so this was a must.
The ride to the top of the mountain was rather terrifying. Much unlike the United States safety is not of their 100% concern. I included a picture of what the seat's look like on the next post. They are very old looking and the bar "protecting" you from falling is rusted out. But, I did manage to survive to the top and let me tell you, was it worth it. You could see the entire island and beyond. No words can describe the top of Monte Solara so how about you tell me what you think. Enjoy!
