Hello, Steemit community! Today I come with a topic that I consider to be very important in our current society and one which it is not usually emphasized a lot in the school, where I think it is important.

I want to talk to you today about the most common doubts regarding terminology about the sexuality of the human being. I want to clarify that I will deal with this topic in a shallow way, without going deeply into it, so that it is more practical and easier to understand.

  1. Anatomical sex: it will be determined chromosomally. XX vagina, where to have a vagina is socially attributed to being a woman. XY penis, where to have a penis is socially attributed to being a man.
There is also the term Intersex commonly known and misapplied as a Hermaphrodite; which is an organic variation where there is a discrepancy between the chromosomally determined sex and the genitals.

  1. Gender identity: is the subjective perception that the individual has of feeling like a man, woman or non-binary person, that is to say; any other than man or woman. Within this category are included terms such as:
  • Cis gender: or binary genders, where the gender identity agrees with the social behavior assigned at birth, ie; The individual may feel like a man or a woman.
  • Transgender: or non-binary genders where gender queer, gender fluid, gender, neutral gender, big gender, polygender, and many others are included.

  1. Sexual orientation: it is the emotional, romantic, sexual or affective attraction of an individual towards others. Within this group is:
  • Straight: romantic and sexual attraction towards the opposite gender.
  • Asexual: lack of sexual attraction towards anyone. No sexual interest.
  • Homosexual: romantic and sexual attraction towards the same gender.
  • Bisexual: romantic and sexual attraction towards the same gender and the opposite gender.
There are also terms like: pansexual, demisexual and others but I will not deal with them in this publication.
  1. Gender expression: which corresponds to the extereorization of gender identity; it is the way in which the individual projects itself before society.
  • Female
  • Male
  • Androgynous

Well friends, up to here. I wanted to make this publication as a quick and practical guide on terminology that I think is very important that we know how to manage as a society and because it is a subject that I am very passionate about, the truth. If you want me in future publications to develop another type of terminology or topics related to sexuality, let me know.

Until the next post!
