Edit: This is Fynn. He is an 11 month old Great Pyrenees. He is a huge part of our family just in the last 2 weeks that we have had him. He is loved and he is spoiled so much already. Between my husband, myself, and our 5 children, he gets A LOT of love and attention. We DO NOT abuse nor will we ever abuse or neglect him or be cruel to ANY of our animals. We do not leave him on his tie out for hours upon hours or anything like that. Before he was groomed we would put him on his tie out for 30 minute intervals several times a day. The tie out is directly outside of our backdoor and we can see him at all times outside of the huge sliding door. Since he had to be shaved because of his coat being matted beyond repair, he only goes outside on his leash to potty and play and on his tie out while we are taking care of our animals. We are getting him a sweater so that he won't be so cold either. Thank you all for your kind words and advice in trying to help us with our big baby. I appreciate those of you who instead of attacking me, offered me advice and didn't jump to conclusions. My husband Jarad Henderson takes him with him almost everywhere he goes and I take him with me most places as well. My husband had a Christmas party for his fire department last night and he wasn't allowed to go with us. And NO we aren't giving him away or giving up on him.
Please delete if not allowed. We need advice on what to do with this boy. We are wanting him to be an outside guard dog to protect our chickens, pigs, ducks, and soon rabbits. We live in a small neighborhood out in the country on about an acre. We have a tie out outside for him but he gets dangled up on everything. If he is not on his leash or tie out he will take off running. We have not gotten him chipped so we don't want him to end up lost. My husband and I went to a Christmas party and since we had to have him shaved I didn't want him left out in the cold (22 degrees) so we put him in our daughters room. We came home to torn up carpet and he busted through the bottom of the door which has to be replaced now. We saved this boy from ending up at the pound. His hair was matted so terribly that the groomer had no option but to shave him. He was infested with fleas from being left in a horse stall and pasture for the first 10 months of his life. This was the first time he was left alone for longer than 15 minutes. There are going to be times when someone isn't able to be home with him at all times. We are just really unsure on what to do.
