I have been a fan of Frogwares’ Sherlock Holmes series for quite some time. Their previous entry into the series Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments was a really good game with interesting stories and mechanics.

The Devil's Daughter builds on its predecessors mechanics and ideas expanding the game with new mechanics in the form of minigames such as lock picking, shooting and more. These mini games are skippable if you are not into it, but most of them are some great action sequences to break the normal slow pace investigative nature of the game.

The game is broken up in cases. There are 5 of them all in all and so far they are all interesting. You pick up clues at locations, by talking to people and using your special deductive skills when looking at people. Some clues you leads to other clues and some leads to “clues” you will see in Sherlock's mind (see image below).

When you have enough clues you can connect them and make deductions and then conclusions that will all connect to a solution. You need to be careful and get as many clues as you can as it is possible to accuse the wrong person if you do not have enough clues. The more thorough your investigation the better!

I am just starting case #3 now but so far it is following the template of the previous game, which is not a bad thing. If you like slowly paced games and good stories this may be the game for you!

I hope you enjoyed my little preview! I should mention I am playing on the PS4 Pro, but you can also get it for PC on Steam or Xbox One. My PSN is michaelnyboebach if you would like to add me. Thank you for reading!
