The new influx of users who are newbies and do not understand the crypto space at all, who are only driven by the market movement and want to buy the most established brand of cryptos, (which is still Bitcoin), see a payment network, which is slow and very costly. The press as well uses the term Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency as the same thing.
So, Bitcoin has problems, Cryptocurrency has problems. Bitcoin is slow, Cryptocurrency is slow. Bitcoin will crash, Cryptocurrency will crash.
Either you buy Bitcoin or you do not buy Bitcoin. I hardly ever see someone in the press mentioning Altcoins or for that matter Steem.
We do not have high fees and a slow network! Why does the mainstream not say: "Bitcoin will crash, altcoins will rise to the top"??
I think they want to harm the whole cryptomarket, by only mentioning the problems of Bitcoin and not the provided solutions by other networks like Steem.
So Bitcoin tanking does not raise the price of Monero, or Steem. It is really mind boggling that someone still, seeing all of those problems in the Bitcoin network would still buy Bitcoin. The Lightning banking network is shit. For that Satoshi did not invent this.
When will people analyze objectively and go to the alternatives instead? This is the beauty of the cryptospace... you have plenty of cryptos to choose from.
Are they too lazy?
Today for example almost everything is down 20%... But Bitcoin is only down 7%. BCH 0%. That people go to BCH, ok... I understand that, as this network works equally bad like Bitcoin 4 years ago... not as bad as Bitcoin now...
But really? is this the market option of choice?? F....ing 10 minute blocks and fees? Steem has 0 fees and 1.5s transactions... is this not better than the old stuff? With the possibility to earn a buck or two through proof-of-brain. No normal guy is able to mine in Bitcoin and make a profit anymore. This is really shitty...
There is still no pressure and rewards for exchanges who implement Steem from Steemit Inc. Bitcoin has the huge advantage that it is traded everywhere, not like many Alts who can only be bought in some smaller exchanges. Steem should fill this void, even if it costs a million USD to pay for the implementation...
