I finally had a chance to watch the finale of The Masked Singer. It turns out I predicted the identities of everyone correctly in my previous post. But I was surprised by the winner. I thought all of the finalists did a great job, but I really don't think Monster should have won. I mean, he really is a great and soulful singer, and not just the autotune guy, but he's no Gladys Knight.

I think if this had been a show where America votes we would have seen a different outcome. But this was just a studio audience and a panel of judges that decided the winner. T-Pain beat Gladys Knight in a singing competition. Think about how insane that statement is and let it sink in for a minute. And not just that, but she got 3rd, so Donny Osmond beat her too. And not to take anything away from Peacock or Monster, but come on. Bee should have been the winner.

As much as I don't agree with the outcome, the show was entertaining, and I enjoyed the experience of watching it. I like how therapeutic it seems for many of the contestants. It's a chance to let their vocals be the focus without any prejudice against past actions, families, etc. It's just an anonymous singer singing.

The show has already been greenlit for a second season, and I for one will be checking it out. It's one of the most unusual and interesting shows I've seen in a long time.
