I had to work today, so most of my 4th of July fun came this evening. Here's a bit of what I got up to.
I checked on the chickens. It's a hot one, so they need to have access to fresh water all the time. Looking good.
Then I cooked some chicken on the grill. It's different chickens.
While the chicken was cooking, I checked on our plantings. We scaled way back this year because of time, but we put a couple zucchini in the ground, and still have our perrennial rhubarb in the background.
We've also got a tiered planter going. In the front is one cucumber plant and 2 peppers. The middle tier has a mix of chard and kale. We've already pulled one batch and cooked it up with some pork. Back row is peas, which will need to be trellised before too long.
In a bit we're heading out to the local fireworks show on the beach. That's what the 4th looks like for me.
