Oh boy,
Big changes, big changes.
What am I most frustrated with?
People fucking with me.
How do I solve this?
Learn to fineness better.
Specifically usually people bother me when I talk loud ... and it becomes a bit of a chain reaction. I respond, they respond, other people hop in, it turns into a situation.
I think that learning to keep my thoughts will be an incredibly valuable skill to develop.
In this current environment I'm sure that I can develop it rather quickly.
What is the most frustrating thing about my business.
Dealing with contractors
How do I solve it?
Transition angela to operations manager.
I will take over sales.
From operations we will go from
drawing / rendering -->
send to contractors / get bids -->
choose contractor / get materials list -->
schedule project
communicate with homeowner
communicate with contractor
confirm job complete
payroll
If I only do jobs where I have a rendering I can eliminate the need for on site visits.
Repairs, redecks, things of this nature, I can do my self (if I want w/ a crew of helpers) would be a good way to get side income
I also dont know if we will get a lot of these given the nature of the $99 site visit
What is the best way to get bids from contractors??
Build a really big list.
Have them self validate (can they follow directions)
Send emails w/ specs after OG site visit 24 hours
SITE VISIT = take measurements + photos
- create sketchup model
- description of project
SEND TO CONTRACTOR LIST
must submit quotes within 48 hours
choose sub = submit materials list
Send homeowner design packet (72 hours)
finalize design (.... x days (not var)
update quote with contractor
get materials list
schedule project
Marketing is fine
Postpone for now
I will handle all sales
first contact
- phone estimate
- schedule site visit
- alt = send pictures if they want
after that all I have to do is check in a few times during the project
Angela handles all customer interaction and contractor interaction
10 hours a week?
15 ?
deal
Ok, for those that have been reading. I guess this is a blog pots on an open forum so I might as well explain.
I want to make my business as simple as possible. As long as I make $4-5000 a month I am GUCCI.
If I am making more, but sacrificing my well being = not worth.
I'm working to simplify my business model. This not only allows me more personal freedom but it also makes this idea more scale able.
I have had issues with removing myself from the business. I was hesitant to train someone for my position, and uncomfortable paying someone a high salary.
I think, at this time, it is best to just delegate out most tasks and focus on the big money makers. I have been working in the business, and intend to do so for a while, so I might as well make myself hyper productive.
By setting hard boundaries on what I will and will not do, and creating simple frameworks so that individuals know what to do in a variety of situations, I can hopefully, make my business run much more smoothly #4hourworkweek
